JUST AS I FINISHED WRITING THAT ENTRY I suddenly heard something strange coming from the television in the kitchen...... I wander out to see that my FAVORITE SONG FROM THIS SPRING, my favorite super obscure song by this (at the time) basically unknown British indie band, the song that I love partially just because the music video looks like a Wes Anderson movie, "5 Years Time" by Noah and the Whale, was being played in a..... COMMERCIAL????? For the Russian cell phone company МТС???? WHAT??? AMAZING!
Oh man, I love Noah and the Whale so much and I have been listening to them all the time recently because their first full album just came out -- Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down -- and I have been listening to "2 Atoms 1 Molecule" and "Shape of My Heart" on repeat. Literally.
HOW FATEFUL.
And now, looking at crap online, apparently "5 Years Time" is also in a Saturn commercial??
And МТС has another commercial with..... Mika! Ok, so they have good taste in music.
Anyway, this has been a fun little trip through media culture.
