-- despite that massive entry....
1. Yesterday was another great holiday in the scale of Russian holidays -- День Молока -- the Day of Milk. Yes, I am serious. When Ilana and I were walking down Nevskii to meet up with John at the Astoria, we saw huge letters made out of white balloons spelling out this fact.
2. Also last night when Ilana and I were walking on Nevskii -- this time when we were walking away from the Astoria -- we saw the (as Ilana calls it) "magic taxi." Russia has its own version of America's Cash Cab -- you know, a game show where a cab drives around and picks up random people and while they are in the cab they answer trivia questions and win money. Yeah, check out that little brush of celebrity.
3. I put up pictures from this weekend. We've got new digital stuff, polaroids from bowling and self portraits from the past few days.
4. I just watched the craziest TV show while drinking tea with Olga, Katya and Stas. It was an athletic competition show not unlike GUTS or something that used to be on 90s Nickelodian TV but it was with grown adults who are all Olympic athletes and they do crazy stunt competitions such as dressing like clowns and running around in an arena with bulls and trying to pop as many balloons as possible on the bulls' horns or dress up in big fluffy kangaroo costumes complete with fake underwear over them and run through an obstacle course. What was funny was the four countries competing were Russia, China, the US and Kazakhstan. And Kazakhstan won overall the whole show and the three other superpower countries all just looked baffled about this. The whole time I was watching athletic men hop around in kangaroo suits I was wondering if they also aired this in the US as the US was a competitor in it.... somehow I think no....
